Gaviscon: Each sachet (10ml) of oral suspension contains 500 mg sodium alginate, 267 mg sodium bicarbonate and 160 mg calcium carbonate as the active ingredients. The product is sugar-free and colour-free. The patient can take this product if the patients is pregnant or breast feeding.
Gaviscon Double Action: Each 10ml of oral suspension contains 500 mg sodium alginate, 213mg sodium bicarbonate and 325mg calcium carbonate as the active ingredients. This product is sugar free and gluten-free. The patient can take this product if the patient is pregnant or breast feeding.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Gaviscon: 40mg methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), and 6mg propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216) as preservative. It also contains carbomer, sodium saccharin, sodium hydroxide, natural mint flavour and purified water.
Gaviscon Double Action: It also contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate 40mg and propyl parahydroxybenzoate 6mg as preservatives.
Gaviscon: Gaviscon Liquid Sachets bring relief from the pain and discomfort of heartburn and acid indigestion which, for example, can occur after meals or during pregnancy. They belong to a group of medicines called 'reflux suppressants, which form a protective layer on top of the stomach contents to prevent stomach add escaping from the stomach where it works into the food pipe where it hurts.
Gaviscon Double Action: Gaviscon Double Action Liquid brings relief from the pain and discomfort of heartburn and acid indigestion. It gets to work in two different ways: neutralising excess stomach acid to relieve pain and discomfort; forming a protective barrier over the stomach contents to soothe the burning pain in the chest.
Gaviscon: For oral administration. Adults, including the elderly and children 12 years and over: One to two sachets, up to 4 times a day after meals and at bed time.
Gaviscon Double Action: For oral use. Shake well before use. Adults and children over 12 years: Take 10-20ml (Two to four 5ml spoonfuls) after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day. Children under 12 years: Not to be given unless recommended by the doctor.
Gaviscon: Before taking this product: Each sachet (10ml) of oral suspension contains 6.2 mmol of sodium and 1.6 mmol of calcium. If the patient have been advised a diet restricted in either of these please consult the doctor before taking this product. This product contains methyl (E218) and propyl (E216) parahydroxybenzoates which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
Do not take if the patient know he/she is allergic to any of the ingredients as skin rashes and difficulty in breathing have been reported.
Consult the doctor if the patient experience these or any other side effects.
After taking this product: If the patient forget a dose it is not necessary to double the dose next time, just carry on taking as before. If symptoms persist after seven days consult the doctor. If the patient take too much of the medicinal product the patient may feel bloated. It is unlikely to cause the patient any harm, but please consult the doctor or pharmacist.
Gaviscon Double Action: Before taking this product: Each 20ml dose contains 11.06 mmol sodium and 6.5 mmol calcium. If the patient have been advised a diet restricted in any of these please ask the doctor before taking this product. Do not take if the patient know he/she is allergic to any of the ingredients as very rarely difficulty in breathing and skin rashes have occurred. Contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216) which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed). Consult the doctor if the patient experience these or any other side effects.
After taking this product: If symptoms persist after 7 days consult the doctor. If the patient take too much of this product the patient may feel bloated. Please consult the doctor or pharmacist.
Do not store above 30°C and store in the original package. Do not freeze or refrigerate.
Gaviscon Double Action: Use within 6 months of opening.
